FORT WORTH , Texas – American Airlines today issued the following statement regarding AmericanConnection carrier RegionsAir's flights to nine Midwestern cities:

American Airlines is working with Great Lakes Aviation to reestablish AmericanConnection service between Lambert St. Louis International Airport and Burlington, Iowa; Decatur, Marion, Springfield and Quincy, Ill.; and Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

On March 8, RegionsAir cancelled flights to nine Midwestern cities because of FAA issues with its Line Check Airman Certification and Training program, and it will no longer operate as an AmericanConnection carrier.

Once the Great Lakes Aviation replacement flight schedule is finalized, it will be loaded into American's reservations system and seats on the new flights will go on sale.

American Airlines regrettably will not be reestablishing AmericanConnection service to three cities for which Great Lakes Aviation was not selected as the Essential Air Service carrier. Those cities are Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Jackson, Tenn.; and Owensboro, Ky.

American Airlines reservations agents will rebook passengers whose RegionsAir flights were cancelled without penalty or offer full refunds for the portion of their travel affected by the cancellations. American regrets the inconvenience these cancellations have caused its customers.
