February 13, 2007

FORT WORTH, Texas – American Eagle, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, will add weekend nonstop service between Halifax International Airport and Chicago O'Hare International Airport beginning May 1.

American Eagle will operate round-trip service every Saturday and Sunday between the two cities using a 70-seat Canadair CRJ-700 jet.

“Building on the success of our new service from Halifax to New York LaGuardia, we're pleased to connect travelers from Eastern Canada to our hub in Chicago,” said American Eagle President Peter Bowler, a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. “The introduction last year of pre-clearance of U.S. Customs and Immigration in Halifax will allow passengers to make convenient one-stop connections to the U.S. Midwest and West Coast through Chicago.”
